ERIN Engineering and Research, Inc. (ERIN), an SKF Group Company, developed the software to perform complete Appendix R compliance strategy assessments using deterministic methods. The ARC workstation facilitates complete assessment of Appendix R compliance strategy assessment through a logical process of fire scenario evaluation. Output from the ARC software program documents the Appendix R program's fulfillment of compliance strategy requirements. The ARC software code maps the logical model to the equipment. It applies the Fire Area/Zone information to identify equipment directly failed due to the location of equipment or cabling, cable trays and power supplies in the Fire Area/Zone being analyzed. The ARC code propagates these failures in the fault tree to identify equipment indirectly affected by the Fire Area/Zone circumstance. The result is a consolidated list of failed equipment as a result of the fire scenario. The ARC product facilitates the review of failed equipment resulting from the fire scenario to develop compliance strategy for successful fire scenario mitigation. The compliance strategy documents the successful mitigation of the fire-failed component based on success of redundant capability. If needed, logical model recoveries are applied to represent actions to recover failed equipment restore lost critical safety function. Analysis of each of the fire scenarios completes the analysis for the plant "as-build" design. The ARC code features a What-if capability to evaluate design changes planned or other conditions requiring temporary analysis without compromising the current plant condition assessment. The program maintains documented evidence of Appendix R compliance for the plant "as-built" design with the flexibility to perform analysis for anticipated plant design changes. |
