ERIN Engineering and Research,  Inc. (ERIN), an SKF Group Company, developed the REVELATION software program for EPRI to translate Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) outputs into user friendly graphs and reports. The logic of the PSA model is not traditionally communicated in the results. Understanding the logic of the model is important to understanding the significance of the calculation results. Additional data files direct the results interpreter to key elements of the PSA model. These key elements are presented as part of the quantification process and interpretation of the results is faster, more accurate, and easier to communicate.

PSA groups are continually asked to do more work with less budget. In competitive environments, more risk-informed decisions are required with fewer personnel. At the same time, PSA applications results must be communicated to a wider audience. This wider audience is increasingly comprised of non-PSA experts who require the results and the impact to be presented in lay terms. The REVELATION product is part of EPRI's Risk and Reliability Workstation and provides easy to understand output so that non-experts can appreciate the significant contributions of the PSA.

The flexible framework of the REVELATION code is designed to facilitate ease of model design, a variety of risk engines, and individual user preferences. The process also stores the gate importance, gate contributors, sequence frequencies, and assumption importances. This information is the basis for the simplified outputs.
