Engineers needed to participate in a variety of design, analysis, and assessment projects for operating power plants. The successful candidate’s initial assignment could involve a variety of diverse engineering related tasks in support of probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) for nuclear power plants. The focus of these risk assessments is to evaluate the behavior and response of plants to a variety of challenges with specific emphasis on fire threats. Anticipated activities include developing, editing/revising, manipulating, and quantifying PRA analytical models such as fault trees and event trees, as well as preparing and editing supporting documentation. Additional duties may include performance of plant inspections to identify potential fire ignition sources, assessment of potential fire damage on equipment and cables in the vicinity of the ignition sources, and analysis. Team members interface directly with nuclear plant personnel, as well as reactor vendors, regulatory agencies and industry groups often onsite at the plant or vendors locations.
